Not exactly. Unlike polyester and feather quilts, silk uses its natural thermoregulating properties to keep you warm – rather than big, bulky fillings. While your quilt might seem slightly thinner than a synthetic alternative, it’ll keep you just the right level of snug.
Tog is a measure of thermal insulation. Our luxe quilts are numbered by GSM, due to the nature of silk. Less silk is required to provide the same level of warmth as another fabric. As a guide, this is an estimate of how silk quilts relate to standard tog ratings:
300GSM = ~6-7.5 tog 550GSM = ~9 tog 300 + 550GSM = 13 tog
Our 300 GSM luxe quilt is our lightest option, perfect for those stuffy nights. Our 550 GSM luxe quilt is a heavier weighting, ideal for autumn or milder nights. The two can be clipped together with poppers at each corner, to become one thicker luxe quilt at 850 GSM. This double thickness is ideal for winter nights when you want to feel toasty.
It really depends on your natural sleep temperature, the climate you live in, and how well heated your home is. We recommend buying both quilts in the bundle deal, so you have the choice of all 3 options.
